Spaceship

Spaceship. I have chosen the title consciously providing the opportunity for everybody to see what they want to see. The central part of the spaceship – a copper teapot cut in a half and joined together. A device with white dial showing miles is in its middle. That is an item taken from the panel of plane appliances acquired in a flea market.

The rear part of the appliance is made using a brass trumpet part. A blow instrument part ends the front part of the object. Among little noticeable but kind of interesting details I could mention sewer thimbles and a crown of an oil lamp. Everything is mounted on a laminated wood board.

Dimensions: 45 x 80 cm

Policeman

Policeman. I have created this work after I remembered an old American action movie “Robocop.” Clockwork gears served for this as well as the details of a “Singer” sewing machine, a wrench and a wristwatch leather bracelet. Assemblage is mounted on the bread-tablet. I think  this is nice metal robot.

Dimensions: 25 x 25 cm.

Reptile

Reptile that I created earlier stimulated me to create one more, however, a different reptile. I like this living being because of its weirdly unusual body shape. I admire them a lot, therefore, I want to find it with other facets.

I was successful to find curved details of an illuminator in a scrap purchase and they reminded me motifs of a plant or tree branches. That was a perfect reason to land a reptile on them. Each of those details had a clear end, therefore, immortalized to fill them with blossoms. Spoons perfectly replaced them for me – I put in threes and that was enough. I have painted everything in the color green with an exception of blossoms, only chameleon sometimes switches to the color yellow. That closes together with nature and, I think it is a perfect combination.

After having mounted everything on a shield it seemed that there is something that lacks, that there is a need for action and movement. I was always doubting – insect or larva. The latter has won. That is the simplest aluminium detail, I do not even know out of what. Of course, I couldn’t leave it without a color because a chameleon will not even notice it. I think that a good larva has been created. Now a reptile is in a stealth movement focused on a victim. I aged a picture background and frames by a wall decoration technique that I have learned. And here one of my metal chameleon comes.

Dimensions: 62×60 cm

Alien

Alien. It appears that these days one can even hunt an alien. There is a mask of the object of an obscure origin and gender. An old bicycle seat inspired to create this work and this seat was bought in a flea market. The camera objectives, the part of a “Singer“ sewing machine, a leather strap of a dog leash, metal hoses out of the illuminator, the part of the oil lamp, a brass part taken out of the plane demonstration panel, magnifying glass and the part of obscure purpose which reminds a corkscrew helped to provide the qualities of an individual.

The work has been mounted on the aged board.

Dimensions: 30 x 45 cm

Sparrow

Sparrow. The part that I randomly encountered on the road and that reminded me the beak of the bird stimulated me to create assemblage. It appeared that it is a lighter that was crossed millions of times. I took it, inverted in my hands and decided – you will be the beak of the metal bird.

I had a dial of an old clock (alarm-clock) next to me, therefore, I have used it as a head. I had to do the head and wings of the sparrow on my own,- the material that I used was a brass plate. I put a cap on a head that has been made of the same corps and covered it by the green platinum. A background on which that bird has been mounted has been made using a wall decoration technique. How is it going to be – a bird without an egg? Only eternal question – who is first?

Dimensions: 39×39 cm

Ostrich metal

Ostrich metal. I saw a stopwatch in an antiquary shop. Such a stopwatch is usually used by athletes. As soon as I saw this watch I came up with the crazy idea to create an ostrich. That is an interesting bird – it has very strong legs and big eyes, well, and the one who runs very fast. I though – I will construct a running ostrich as if it was running towards the finish.

Old spoons, a stainless steel cup dedicated to pour cream, the part of a bicycle, the parts of a “Singer“ sewing machine, a female belt have been used for assemblage. The time ticks and metal ostrich runs.

Dimensions: 40 x 52 cm

Motorbike

Motorbike metal. That is an original “Steampunk“ style work. The parts of a “Singer“ sewing machine, the part of an old brass trumpet valve, the clock mechanism, a silver spoon, aluminum parts of a bicycle, a leather case of a compass and an old “Zippo“ lighter have been used to create it. Everything has been mounted with covered screws on a 5 mm plywood sheet. The metal motorbike frame has been aged with a lasur, fittings of old window frames have been used.

Dimensions: 57x40cm.

A chameleon

A chameleon. A strainer made of aluminum was exactly the inspired which gave me the idea to create this work. Other parts only helped to join and fulfill the job until the very end. A bright part that distinguishes a chameleon out of other lizards is a sprout to the head. Its shape matched the cup of a sour cream, a tail has been coiled out of 5 mm aluminum wire and the legs have been made of wrenches and the body has been embedded with aluminum rivets and cranks on the back have been made of copper contacts.

A chameleon is grasped to a brass part of the trumpet. I fitted a telescope to strengthen a character and this telescope has been replaced with a brass thimble.  Everything has been mounted on a plywood sheet. It, by the way, has been decorated with the wall decoration principle using appropriate plaster.

Dimensions: 59x59cm.

Year: 2014

Icarus

Icarus. A note holder has become a starting point of this work. When I was buying it in an antiquary market I already knew that I can put a man‘s face into this oval item. I had the parts that I acquired earlier and that is why I completed my goal. A metal plate of a clock mechanism has replaced  the metal Icarus body. I have mounted a compass in its middle so that a flyer would not get lost. Wings have been made of the part of a firearm leather tray that can be hung under an armpit. Legs and arms have been made of the parts of the spoons. I have glued a face of simulation. The work has been mounted on a laminated wood base and painted in blue in order to remind the boundless distances of the blue sky.

Beetle

Beetle . As soon as I saw these old spoons in antiquary shop I started thinking about the metal beetle. That are very old silver spoons raveled until brass and they perfectly fit to this robotized beetle. It also has a clock mechanism which creates additional charm. A tail is one more interesting part. It is a valve of a wind-instrument (trumpet). Hammers of the alarm-clock which beat the sound replace the legs of the beetle. The background has been aged in a blasting method distinguishing a nice wood pattern.

Dimensions: 28 x 28 cm

Bathyscaphe

Bathyscaphe. The idea was born when I bought a Swedish water flask of the Second World War. Its shape reminded me a fish or a submarine. It is like a hybrid of a ship and of a fish. Aluminum flashlight corps served for this and a trumpet flapper replaced a periscope. A ship engine can be seen through a magnifying glass – it has been made of a pocket watch mechanism. A ship has been mounted on a plywood board that was aged before.

Dimensions: 45x30cm

Bug

Bug. I do not even try to compete with nature, as that is impossible. Its created flora and fauna is inimitable. I see it in my own way through the imagination prism that I have created. I did not need a lot of parts for this metal insect. The body has been made of the spoon; the head has been made of two tea spoons with mustache fit to the clock. Two forks replace the legs of this insect. This living being is half-robotized, its body is decorated with the parts of the clock mechanism. I got a very interesting and odd bug. It is like a new species.

The main details:
  • The body of this insect has been made of a spoon of a German silver and the part of the clock mechanism;
  • The head has been made of two teaspoons;
  • Mustache has been made of the alarm-clock legs;
  • The legs have been made of two forks.

Dimensions: 30 x 30 cm.
