Reviewer
“Artūras clearly masters his craft and his compositions are very much accomplished.
His use of diverse materials, with different origins and intended use, places him in the domain of Recycled Art.
The sculptures are a homage to the natural and marine world, showing both vivid imagination and the hand of a sculptor.”
— Flavio Scaloni, Art Critic for Singulart
Section 1: Technical Review
The first part of the feedback focuses on your technical skills. The reviewer gave his opinion on the quality of your craft (e.g. color palette, shape, texture, size, technique, framing, and composition)
How do you asses the artist’s technique in terms of colors, shapes, texture, and size, as well as used material, medium, and process?
Dear Arturas, Singulart has invited me to review a selected portfolio of your works, which I am very glad to do.
I will follow the structure that is proposed here by the platform to structure my comments.
The first section is technical: I see you clearly master your work and your compositions are very much accomplished.
Your use of different materials, with different origins and intended use, places you in the domain of “Recycled Art”.
The sizes that I see for these works look all very good to me, to provide a nice visual effect to the viewers.
Section 2: Artistic review
The second part of the review focuses on the artistic and aesthetic aspects of the portfolio.
What is the strenght of the portfolio?
This is a strong portfolio because the artistic approach of the author is very clear.
The sculptures are a homage to the insect, marine, natural world (with a couple of exceptions), and the effect is very accomplished.
The juxtaposition of materials is very interesting and the artist proves not only to have a vivid imagination, but also “the hand” of a sculptor.
Where does the reviewer see the possibility for improvement?
From a technical perspective, I think that the artist know very well what he is doing and how, so I don’t think that any recommendations are needed in this sense.
If I may, there are 2 points that I would like to address:
1) the realization of “utilitarian” objects such as “WINE BOTTLE RACK” presents the risk of “downgrading” the art work to “artisanal” work. I would personally tend to avoid that.
2) The human characters such as “military man” have in my opinion less visual strength than the animal characters.
Who or what can you follow and study, or get inspiration from?
I think that the universe that inspires the artist the most, a part from the movement of Recycled Art, is The Steampunk.
The movement has attracted a lot of attention in the last 10 years or so and you can now find some nice catalogues or monographies that put together the works of several international artists.
I would in particular recommend revising the works by Igor Verniy and Stephan J. Smith.
Section 3: Promotional review
Where do you see the artist on the art market in terms of audience, pricing, and estimated market potential?
I think your audience is international (Europe, USA, Australia, China) and primarily consists of Steampunk enthusiasts and collectors who appreciate your unique, narrative-driven style and commitment to eco-responsible art. Pricing is in the mid-range for contemporary sculpture, with works generally selling from approximately $800 to over $7,000.
Your market potential is strong and stable, bolstered by his “Best Selling Artist” status on platforms and a wide international collector base. The distinctiveness of your Steampunk niche and professional standing (member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association, numerous exhibitions) provide a solid foundation for continued sales and potential for price appreciation in your larger, more complex pieces.
Conclusion
Finally, what would be the one piece of advice you would give this artist, regarding the objective of this review?
I think you have a very sound background, artistic point of view and technical skills.
As such, I think you are on a very good truck to succeed internationally.
It is of paramount importance that you develop a strong and consistent Social Media strategy. You should be present on both Instagram and Pinterest, if you are not already, and post at a regular pace by including relevant keywords and hashtags. You may also want to add what in Marketing is generally referred to as a “Call to action”, meaning that you invite the viewer to interact with you. Examples “what is it that attracts your eye in this work?”, “do you find this colour combination strong enough?” etc.
You may consider participating in some relevant Art Fairs, like the “Affordable Art Fair” in either Brussels or London, ArteFiera in Bologna, or “The other Art Fair” in London.
I wish to congratulate myself for your work! Keep it up!
Kind regards,
Flavio Scaloni
